Asphalt shingles are covered in granules that protect them from the sun. High pressure strips those granules off, shortens the life of the roof and can void a manufacturer's warranty. Some roofers won't honour a warranty on a roof that's been pressure washed at all.

What causes the black streaks on my roof?
An algae that lives on asphalt shingles and spreads down the roof with the rain. It shows up first on north-facing and shaded slopes. It isn't dirt, so rain won't wash it off, and it keeps spreading until it's treated.
Is soft washing safe for my shingles?
Yes — that's why we use it. Low pressure means nothing is being blasted off the roof. High-pressure cleaning is what damages shingles, and we don't do it.
Can you clean a metal roof?
